Rita and Hans Gautschi, having
experienced the tragedy of the human condition in the Dominican Republic
during the late 1980’s,
informally started GRAÇIAS
in 1987.
GRAÇIAS
is
dedicated to working with a humanitarian institution,
Integración Juvenil, in the
Dominican Republic, to assist them with educating, feeding, housing
and caring for poverty stricken children and their families.
Rita Gautschi, through
GRAÇIAS, has
been operational
as a registered charity
since late 1993.
In
1994 we began soliciting
donations
of needed materials in
Canada for the benefit of needy children in the area of
Puerto Plata and in conjunction with
Integración Juvenil.
The
Initial
Purpose of Graçias:
• To assist with the tasks of improving conditions of life for street
children.
• To act as a liaison between the Dominican Republic and other
countries.
• To provide educational equipment, tools, materials, medical supplies and
food.
Presently Graçias continues to act as
the liaison for Integración Juvenil by making known the mission of this
most humble institution.
Our work
is voluntary and no one receives a salary or compensation.
